Reflective writing for online course Analyzing data with excel (EDX)
In this online course from EDX, I learned how to do data analysis with a spreadsheet, the basics of data quality and privacy, how to clean data like removing duplicates and sorting, and various functions in Excel. It made me realize that Excel has also some shortcomings compared to other data-analyzing tools like where it can handle vast amounts of data from an old company. Various other activities were very useful in digesting the information given in the video. Being a data analyzer the most important thing to do is clean and arrange the data systematically. The second important thing is always to have consent from the client where data is obtained from. The third is to have data always accurate which enables the reliability of the data. These three things are a must for a data analyst which can be done through Excel. There are also various shortcut keys or ways that make it very convenient.
I am very excited to integrate the skills I learned in accountancy through Excel. Making students do practical questions like exercises in Excel will be a normal thing in the future which I strongly believe. Also, it will make it more interesting and convenient for the students. Lastly, most accounting is done on PC, which is even better for students.
